The Aesthetic: Where Industrial Grit Meets French RomanceBrighton isn't just a seaside town; it’s a living gallery of textures. Last month, I had the pleasure of meeting a couple at Brighton Train Station just hours before their wedding registration. They weren't looking for traditional, polished "wedding" photos—they wanted a session that captured the raw, artistic, and cinematic soul of the city they love. Whether you are a couple celebrating a milestone or an individual looking for a curated "lifestyle" gallery, this 90-minute route offers a perfect mix of high-contrast industrial grit and soft, vintage charm.
Part 2: The North Laine & Global InspirationAs we entered the North Laine, the couple’s eyes were immediately drawn to YUM-YUM Oriental Market. For anyone who loves a Hong Kong vintage aesthetic, the textures and signage here offer a unique, cinematic energy that feels a world away from the UK. Directly next door, we found a complete contrast at GUNNS Florist. This spot is a dream for those who prefer a French-style romance, with overflowing blooms providing a soft, natural frame for intimate portraits. Part 3: Curiosity Shops & SubcultureWe spent the heart of the session exploring Brighton’s world-famous curiosity shops:
Part 4: The Regal Pavilion to the Palace PierTo close the session, we moved toward the horizon:

Brighton isn’t just a location; it’s a mood. For Sophia and Andy, their wedding was a masterclass in the "Brighton Mix"—a seamless blend of regal history, designer aesthetics, and that effortless, seaside cool. As Brighton-based storytellers, capturing a day that moves from the ornate halls of the Pavilion to the members-only chic of the Beach House is exactly where we thrive.
The Morning: Contrast & Creative Spaces
The day began with a beautiful juxtaposition. Sophia prepared at The Artist Residence, surrounded by industrial textures and eclectic art. We focused on the organic grain and soft, nostalgic light of the morning, capturing the "getting ready" moments with a focus on raw emotion and editorial detail.
Meanwhile, Andy was at The Grand Brighton, where the Victorian architecture provided a structured, masculine backdrop. We focused on those quiet, unposed breaths before the day accelerated—capturing the anticipation as he prepared to head to the Pavilion.
Waiting just outside on the Kings Road was their vintage red getaway car, a bold splash of color against the shimmering blue of the Brighton seafront. There is something incredibly editorial about that specific palette; the primary red against the coastal blue felt like a nod to classic cinema, setting the tone for the stylish journey ahead. The Ceremony: Regal Grandeur at The Royal Pavilion
Walking into the Music Room of the Royal Pavilion is a cinematic experience in itself. To the soulful sounds of a live harp and cello, Sophia and Andy exchanged vows under the most iconic domes in the UK.
To honor the history of the space, we opted for a moody, cinematic tone. We utilized the venue’s dramatic shadows and gold-leafed opulence to create frames that feel like stills from a classic film. A "must-have" for us was playing with Sophia’s veil—creating soft, ethereal layers that added a sense of timeless romance to the bold, historical setting. The Reception: Soho House Vibes at Brighton Beach House
The celebration shifted to Brighton Beach House (Soho House). The Promenade and Marine rooms offered a clean, designer aesthetic that felt incredibly fresh, with the iconic silhouette of the Brighton Palace Pier stretching out into the sea just beyond the windows.
As the sun began to dip over the English Channel, we escaped to the pebbles for a sunset session. There is a specific magic to the Brighton coast at dusk; with the Pier’s lights starting to flicker on in the background, we focused on the grainy, romantic textures of the beach. We captured the couple in a way that felt casual yet deeply meaningful—not about 'posing,' but about the movement of the sea air and their effortless connection against the most famous view in the city. The Party: Strings, Speeches, and Slow-Motion
The night ended with a high-energy performance by Andy himself, accompanied by strings. To capture the vibration of the room, we moved to high-frame-rate cinematography, allowing us to lean into those dreamy, slow-motion moments during the first dance.
From the first pop of the cork to the final dance under the disco ball, the day was a perfect reflection of modern Brighton: sophisticated, artistic, and entirely original. Golden Hour: A Beachside Finale
No Brighton wedding is complete without the beach. As the sun began to dip, we escaped the crowds for a sunset session on the pebbles. The lighting was soft, the mood was "casual and meaningful," and the results were pure magic.
We wrapped the night with a high-energy first dance, filming in 4K 50fps to allow for those dreamy, slow-motion sequences of the party in full swing.
